Bay to Breakers - SF, 2008

San Francisco is one of those amazing places that tolerates so much... and the Bay to Breakers annual marathon is no exception.  Yes it is a real marathon, but we did not run the full 12 something kilometers, instead we walked and enjoyed the spectacle of the 'parade of debauchery' as I have coined it.  It is definitely a swap-meet of ages, races, genders, and all that... with the unifying goal of having fun!  That's good enough for me.  Sarma, Lena, and myself had a blast... and lucky us got to meet up with Darko, Anne, and their friends too!

Kona Beach Day (April 2008)

So about once every blue moon a miracle happens... we get a group together and get out of town for an entire day and find a nice uncrowded beach and relax and pretend that we are on vacation on a beautiful island in paradise.  Hard to believe we live so close to awesome areas like this and have to make such an effort to get out and enjoy them.

My New Car!

I decided to lower my car payment significantly and just find something under warranty that was reliable and functional... the gods must have been watching me as I lucked into a great deal on a 2005 Dodge Magnum AWD.  Not my pick of color, but metallic black is actually pretty nice. The surfboards fit in the back just perfectly and the cd changer plays MP3s, no complaints from me!

the Blackberry/iPhone Battle

I decided to give up my full-featured Blackberry Curve for the more usable and wow-factored iPhone.  It's all good now.

Maui Trip!

Maui was calling so I packed up some of my 'stuff' and caught a ride on a propeller plane... 40 minutes later I was on Maui!  Met up with my good friend Rich and his family in Napili and remembered what it is like to relax.  Also caught up with Mael and his family... ok everyone I know now has a family, great!  Lots to photograph.

Camping in Kona/Bobfest

We rallied the posse and camped for two nights, drove to Kona, hit the beach, then enjoyed some rare grooves at the Bob Marley Fest.  Sadly the headliner Alpha Blondie never showed...

Da Office at the Hilo Ironworks

Yep, I have an office in downtown Hilo.  Lucky us we have the best view in town, but it does remind me of an aquarium sometimes, except that we are on the inside.

08 Storm & Surf Pix

Crazy storms are upon us, big wind, rain, and surf seems to be unrelenting...  we're all doing our best to cope.  The surf may look perfect, but it's icy COLD, murky, muddy, and a STRONG current is doing its best to drag you down the beach.  I took the photos and stayed out of the water this day.

2007-12 Cali Trip

Hawaii is great but even in the middle of winter I long to visit family and friends back in California.  I was lucky enough to get lots of FRESH snow in Tahoe, meet with my good friend Saulius (and g-money), and much more!

Snow in Hawaii

Yes indeed it DOES snow in Hawaii.  There was a nice long storm in the islands that lasted a good week, plenty of rain, and some cold weather were involved... then voila!  We looked up to the top of Mauna Kea one morning and saw it covered in SNOW!  We waited until we had time and then got in the 4x4 and drive a good 90 minutes to check it out!  Oh yeah, we actually walked around in 1-2 feet of snow in the morning, then came back to Hilo (no surf) so we went for a swim at Coconut Island.  Pretty cool to see both snow and ocean on the same day.

Beach Day (Kona secret spot)

We've found quite a few great beaches on the Kona side of the island.  Sorry we can't reveal this location... but it's incredible let me tell ya!

Ok you know what I mean, mostly flowers and other cool scenic nature-related photos will be in this gallery.  Probably not so many shrubs, but you never know.

Hurai Surfing

Yes I do my best to get out into the warm water here in Hawaii on a regular basis and get some surfing in.  Don't tell too many people but the Big Island of Hawaii actually DOES have some great reliable surf!

Laupahoehoe Point

Just about 5 minutes from our  property is beautiful Laupahoehoe Point beach, on this particular day there was a HUGE swell, it's usually quite calm and easy to get in the ocean.

The Pets

Kekoa is a shepherd mix and is nearly 2 years old, Ola is a lab/pitbull mix, and Nando and Bella are cats obviously.  There is a definite pecking order and everyone likes to make sure it's well established.

Our 10 Acres in Hawaii

We bought our land in the Hamakua Coast in 2003 and have slowly made progress on building a house and getting an honest-to-goodness 'farm' going.  It's still going to take a while before it looks anything like a farm, but everyone has day-jobs you see.

Puako Beach Day

We took a trip to Puako, about 30 minutes North of Kona and enjoyed the early morning sun.  Talk about a great relaxing spot!
